Formatting DocBook on the Web

Problem

You've received a copy of some DocBook source and you'd like to look at it, but you have no tools available to transform your content.

Solution

A quick way to get a PDF of a DocBook file is to use the DocBook Formatting Service set up by RenderX as a demonstration of their XSL formatting product. This service can be found at: http://renderx.com/demos/docbook.html

The service will let you upload an XML file and then transform it with the RenderX formatting engine using the standard DocBook XSL stylesheets (1.69.1 as of 26 February 2008). The result will have a “RenderX” watermark, but will be legible.
